"There's nothing else available (to mitigate ASR)other than removing the whole structure that we know will work. We looked at the research that has been done with lithium and decided it was a good tool and to give it a try."

Concerned by the major cracks and popouts forming in the asphalt wear surface of the bridge deck, the city engineers contacted the Euclid Chemcial Company experts in concrete design and repair. The technical support team determined the surface, underside and surrounding areas of the concrete substrate were exhibiting signs of alkali-silica reactivity (ASR).

Recently, Green Bay officials noticed that two of their heavily traveled bridges were in need of a major rehabilitation. The Euclid Chemical technical team was called in to survey the situation and suggested three high-performance products, Air Mix 250, Eucon WR, and Tuf-Strand SF.
Tuf-Strand SF a unique patented synthetic structural fiber is embedded directly into the concrete mix. With the inclusion of Air Mix 250, which provides exceptional resistance to repeated freeze/thaw cycling and Eucon WR for additional durability and shrinkage reduction, the end result was an expedient, durable repair.
